Careers

Difficult work, done properly.

We are a small organisation doing legally complex work in hard conditions. That shapes who we hire and what we can offer.

Our teams

Where people fit.

Roles open across these six functions. Field and legal are where we recruit most often.

Field operations

Coordinators based in kiln, quarry and farm districts. Identification, verification, rescue coordination and the relationships with local administration that make all of it possible.

Legal

Lawyers and paralegals running wage recovery, release certificates, criminal complaints and RTI. Court work, but mostly the paperwork that decides whether court work succeeds.

Welfare and rehabilitation

Linking families to e-Shram, pensions, rations, health referrals and the statutory grant — then following up for two years to confirm the money actually arrived.

Research and advocacy

Turning case records into policy briefs, submissions and evidence. Requires comfort with both fieldwork and a spreadsheet.

Programme management

Budgets, donor reporting, monitoring and evaluation. The function that keeps grants compliant and programmes honest about their outcomes.

Operations and communications

Finance, HR, technology and public communications. Small team, broad remit, direct line to the work.

Working here

What we can and cannot offer.

We can offer real responsibility early, a small enough organisation that you see a case from intake to closure, training in labour law and field practice, and colleagues who have done this for years and are willing to teach.

We cannot offer corporate salaries. We pay against the Indian development-sector benchmark, and we say so at the first conversation rather than at the offer stage.

The work is demanding. Field roles involve travel to remote districts, irregular hours during rescue operations, and exposure to accounts of coercion. We provide debriefs and we take that seriously, but we do not pretend the difficulty away.

How we hire

No unpaid assignments, no unexplained silences.

Application, a conversation about the work, a paid task where a task is genuinely needed, and a decision either way within two weeks of the last stage. We tell everyone who interviews, including the people we do not hire.

Not credentials. The ability to sit with someone for an hour, get the account right, and still be there eighteen months later when the grant finally comes through.
